Common Questions
What is DocIndy?
DocIndy is a world-class service that offers telemedicine, lab testing, and pharmaceutical needs for over 175,000 patients across the U.S.
What if I already have a primary physician?
DocIndy is not meant to replace your primary care physician, but rather support that relationship. For example, it’s estimated that 70% of physician visits can be handled via phone. However, there are times when we will recommend you see your primary care physician in person or help guide you to one if you do not have an existing relationship.
Are you a subscription service?
No. DocIndy is not a subscription service. We provide physician consultations when you need to use us. Monthly fees do apply for patients prescribed semaglutide or tirzepatide under the NowGLP program.
Are there any hidden fees?
There are no recurring fees for the visit. Your visit fee includes everything but the cost of your medications at the pharmacy.
Do I need to have health insurance to use DocIndy?
Once you sign up, we’ll handle the rest. We’ll make sure your insurance is compatible before transferring your prescriptions to our pharmacy. Our pharmacists will contact your current pharmacy directly and will transfer your prescriptions to Pharmaneek. Going forward, we’ll proactively manage your refills, schedule new prescriptions to your UneekDose, and work directly with your insurance.
Can I request a specific doctor for my consultation?
Currently, DocIndy assigns the first available doctor to ensure timely consultations. However, we are working on introducing a feature that allows you to choose a specific doctor for your appointments.

Compounded GLP-1 Products
What is semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a medication classified as a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist.
What does semaglutide do?
It mimics the GLP-1 hormone that is released in the gastrointestinal tract in response to eating.
What is the connection between diabetes and semaglutide?
Semaglutide is primarily used to manage type 2 diabetes, but it is also approved for weight management in individuals who are overweight or have obesity. It is available in various forms, including injections and oral tablets.
Can I take semaglutide even if I don't have diabetes?
Yes and no. For oral semaglutide, you do require diabetes. But for other versions of semaglutide, you don't need diabetes but you would need to be approved for using it for chronic weight management. Some simple factors doctors would look at are your BMI and waist circumference.
Why does the doctor look at my BMI?
The doctor won't only look at BMI, but it is part of the screening process. Currently, candidates for drug therapy include individuals who have not met weight loss goals (loss of at least 5 percent of total body weight at three to six months) with comprehensive lifestyle intervention and have either obesity and a body mass index (BMI) ≥30 kg/m2 or a BMI of 27 to 29.9 kg/m2 plus one or more weight-related comorbidities. Waist circumference would also be checked to confirm excess fat, consistent with obesity, as opposed to an elevated BMI due to higher muscle mass.
What do you mean by obesity?
Obesity is defined by elevated BMI (body mass index) which is a calculated number based on weight and height of a person and increase in waist circumference. BMI below 25 is considered to be normal. BMI of 25-29.99 is considered to be overweight and above 30 is considered to be obese, BMI above 40 is considered to be Morbid obesity. In Asian individuals, overweight is defined as a BMI of ≥23 to 24.9 kg/m2 and obesity as a BMI of >25 kg/m2. Obesity is associated with a significant increase in morbidity (including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, heart disease, stroke, sleep apnea, and cancer) and mortality. Weight loss is associated with a reduction in obesity-associated morbidity.
What is tirzepatide?
Tirzepatide is a dual-acting GLP-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (also called GIP) receptor agonist with substantial efficacy for weight reduction in individuals with overweight and obesity.
Which is better, semaglutide or tirzepatide?
Talking with a doctor would be best to confirm what is best for you. However, it appears that tirzepatide may be more effective than semaglutide as it is a dual-acting GLP-1 as it is designed to bind both the receptors. But the selection between tirzepatide and semaglutide depends on patient preferences and comorbidities.
What do you mean by 'compounded' GLP-1?
When a drug is in shortage, the FDA allows compounders to prepare a compounded version to meet the demand. As of May 2023, Ozempic and Wegovy are both listed on FDA’s Drug Shortages list.

Do I have to download any apps or programs to engage in telehealth?
No, but you must use a device with video capabilities. You may also use a computer with a camera to complete your telehealth encounter. The DocIndy webapp provides patients with a convenient way to speak to a doctor without the use of a computer.
When do I join my video session?
Please be available to join your telehealth session at least five minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
What types of medical issues are suitable for telehealth consultations?

Are telehealth appointments covered by insurance, and how does billing work?
Many insurance plans cover telehealth appointments, but coverage may vary. DocIndy will provide you with information on billing and coverage. Ensure to check with your insurance provider for specific details on telehealth coverage.
How do I prepare for a telehealth appointment with DocIndy?
To prepare for your telehealth appointment, ensure that you have a stable internet connection, a device with video capabilities, and a quiet, private space for the consultation. Additionally, have any relevant medical information or questions ready for discussion.
Can I request a follow-up telehealth appointment with the same healthcare provider?
Yes, DocIndy allows you to schedule follow-up telehealth appointments with the same healthcare provider for continuity of care. You can choose your preferred provider when scheduling the appointment.
